Khata app — common questions

Is the khata app free?

Yes. Arth Saathi’s khata is free on the mobile app — add unlimited customers and suppliers, record unlimited entries. Paid plans add premium features later, but the core khata is free.

Is khata available on the web dashboard?

Not yet. Today, khata lives in the Arth Saathi mobile app (Android & iOS). Web khata is on our roadmap — drop your email below to be notified when it launches.

What is digital khata?

Digital khata is the mobile-app version of a traditional bahi-khata: instead of a paper ledger, you record customer udhar (credit given) and payments received in an app. It auto-calculates outstanding balances, sends reminders, and survives floods and lost notebooks.

Can I track suppliers too, not just customers?

Yes. Arth Saathi’s khata has two sides: customers (people who owe you) and suppliers (people you owe). Both sides have the same flow — record amounts, record payments, see net outstanding.

Khata kaise banaye? (How do I set up khata?)

Bahut asaan: install Arth Saathi mobile app, tap Khata tab, add a party (customer or supplier) with name and phone, record udhar or payment. Outstanding balance auto-update ho jata hai. Saara record secure cloud pe save rehta hai.

What if my customer doesn’t have a phone number?

No problem — walk-in customers without a phone can still be added. Phone is optional. You just won’t be able to send them automatic WhatsApp reminders, but the ledger works fine.

Can I attach a photo of the bill?

Yes. Every ledger entry can have a bill photo attached. Useful for disputes — your customer can’t deny what was sold when there’s a clear photo of the bill.

Will reminders be sent automatically?

Yes. You can send WhatsApp reminders for outstanding balances with one tap from the mobile app. Customers see a clean message with the amount and a payment link.

Is it secure?

All khata data is encrypted in transit and at rest, stored on Indian servers, and isolated per business. Only you see your khata — never cross-tenant access.

What about udhar / credit limits?

You can set a credit limit per customer. When new udhar would push them over the limit, you get a warning before recording. Optional, but useful for high-risk parties.
